My IVF: 2WW.. appointment & additional medication

11 October 2010
5 days after the embryo transfer, we have another appointment. My doctor basically did a scan on my tummy to see whether my uterus is in good condition. For this scan, i also need to be in full bladder..again.. Alhamdullillah, it seems that the uterus size, the uterine lining.. ...looks okay and would be ideal for the implantation of the embryos.. yeayy.. was so happy to hear it from the doctor.

The doctor then prescribed me additional medication  - Progynova 2 mg... one tablet in the morning and one at nite. I'm not so sure what's the function of Progynova, but what i understand from the doctor's explanation is that it prevents sudden drop of one of the hormone.... i did use the help of Mr.Google few times to look for the answer but.. still could not find a good explanation on this Progynova. (Who ever have the answer.. do share with us here ya).
Before we go home, we did the payment for our 4  frozen embryos:
RM500 - for the frozen process
RM1000 - for 1 year storage of the embryos
That's a total of RM1500.
Kachingg !!!
The Progynova ~ looks like mini Mentos
At the back of the Progynova pack, there's day for each tablet..
not sure what it is for..
the nurse said, just ignore the day. Just take a tablet in morning
and at night as per doctor's instruction.

Simply me... jams

  1. Progynova is a hormone control pill. For those who wish to prevent for pregnancy, they can help this pills also. For IVF purpose, patients need to continue to maintain the estrogen level. This pill can thicker the uterus lining, so it can support the embryo implantation. Once you stop this pill, your menstrual will come few days later as the estrogen level decrease and the uterus lining is dropping, therefore you will have your menstrual. :P

  3. Yes. I did a hard work for the IVF process as my case seem to be not to common and not cheap also in Malaysia. Before we decided to really start the IVF, I did a research and lot more of information. If you have any doubt, I would be much more happy to assist. :P

  5. You are most welcome. I am from Art class, have no Biology background. However, most of the time I will check in details with doctor, nurse, ask around some friends and google. I want to make sure what is the side effect of medicine will caused to our body. Actually, most of the medicine we have got side effect, although the percentage is very low, but some how there is a risk. Most of the hormone pills or injections that we did will caused ovaries or breast cancers. Normally, doctor will say it should be fine for patients, but long term having this medicine is not good. You may refer to the description of the medicine the nurse gave us.
