As expected, my period came... since it was Sunday, i just sent a text messages (sms) to Dr Prashant nurse to inform that i've got my period. After a few minutes, she called me and set the appointment on my Day-3 period. First step.. done ;)

My first appointment for IVF.... since the appointment is at 9.30am, we had to leave home early to avoid the traffic jam.. (it was a working day and it's peak hours). We kept listening to the traffic info @ HotFM, make a diversion to avoid those jam area.. so that we won't be late for our first appointment. Managed to arrive at the clinic on time. Since i'm the first patient of the day, the nurse straight away asked me to go into the doctor's room.
The doctor briefly explained what he will do today. Then he did the transviganal scan of my uterus. Since it was only my 3rd day of my period, so only 2 small follicles was found.
I was given my first injection ~ Orgalutran 0.25 mg (Orgalutran contains ganirelix that is used to prevent premature ovulation). What i understand from the doctor's explanation is this injection will stop me from ovulating so that more follicles will be produced.
I need to take this injection for 3 days in the morning before i go to work.
The nurse shown me how to do the injection. Since it is a pre-filled syringe, so it was pretty easy to do the injection.. the injection area must be about 1 - 1 1/2 inches under the belly button and about 1 - 2 inches to the left or right of it. The injection's needle should be at 90 degree with the belly.
Oh ya.. before the injection is done, need to wipe and clean the injection area with the Alcohol Swab. Also need to remove the bubble inside the syringe. To do so, hold the syringe vertically, then slowly press the syringe plunger until the liquid reach the top of the syringe barrel and then if there is any small bubbles, just slowly tap the syringe with finger and again slowly press the plunger. The syringe needle is very thin, so the injection is not that painful. We were given a cooler bag (that has a thick padding inside) and ice to keep the supplies of Orgalutran injection cool. The injections must be kept in a cool place like the fridge (remember..don't ever put the injections in the freezer area. Just put them in the area where you keep your vegetable or food).
At first we want to settle our payment by credit card, but the nurse said we can also pay by cash. Considering that there is a 2% of admin charges on the payment via credit which totaling at RM340, we decided to pay the IVF by cash. We don't bring too many cash that day, so the nurse said we can make first payment of RM3000 during our next visit.
Second step.. done !! Aha.. no Ka-Ching for today.

but luckily my menses is not that heavy on my 3rd day.. heavy flow usually on 1st and 2nd day.
I did asked doctor is it necessary to do on 3rd day.. he said yes, because he need to start monitor the development of the follicles.

dear jams,
ReplyDeletethanks for the info , my dear.

-angel-
Angel.. yes.. you are right. Dont worry, the nurse will give you tissue to wipe the blood off after the scan.
ReplyDeleteActually, according to initial plan, i was supposed to do the scan on my 2nd day period. But the appoinment was full. So the nurse scheduled me to do the scan on third day.
That's good. Your blog is really have good posts. I think If you've been trying have a baby for over a year with no luck, it can be very frustrating, depressing and the thought of never having your own children is always in the back of your mind.If you never think it's going to happen on your own, then it might be time to look into alternative procedures such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to help you with your pregnancy.
