This is our story

Back in 1998, me and my hubby studied in the same college & university. In our final year in the university, we finally realized that we were MFEO (ie Made For Each Other).

So.. a few years after graduated, in May 2004, we tied the knot and our journey begins.
After 3 years of happy marriage, we felt like something is still missing in our life ~ a child.
So, we searched for information over the net, and we finally decided to seek for advice from a specialist in gynaecology and fertility.

November 2007 ~ we had our first appointment with Dr.Hamid Arshat. Ever since my schooldays until now, i have very bad period pain every time my period came. So after hearing my side of story, the doctor scheduled me for a procedure which includes D&C (Dilation and Curettage), Polypectomy and Hydrotubation. This procedure was basically to clean-up my uterus, to widen my cervix and a few others which i couldn't remember. The procedure was done under sedation. As a result from the procedure, the doctor found my cervix was very tight which might cause the period pain and also my infertility. However, I don't seems to have any other problem like cyst, fibroid, endometriosis or PCOS. Alhamdullillah. Oh ye.. we also did sperm test and the result was okay.
We were then advised to TTC (ie. try to conceive) naturally. After a few months of trying, we were still  not pregnant. Then the doctor asked me to do HSG which basically an x-ray of the uterus to see whether there is any blockage in the tubes. I was referred to Klinik Daya at Jalan Raja Laut, KL for the HSG. My experience was like.... it was seriously painful,  just like having very painful menstrual pain !! Maybe for some people the HSG is not that bad. But for me.... it was a nightmare. However, the outcome of the HSG was pretty good. There was no blockage.. Alhamdullillah once again.
Then we were advised to TTC but this time with the help of Clomid (A fertility medication to stimulate ovulation or in other word make you more fertile). After a few months of TTC, there was still no good news for us. Went back to see the doctor, this time he increased the Clomid dosage and  another round of TTC.

January 2009 ~ after so many attempt to conceive, my doctor recommended to do an IUI. IUI ~ Intrauterine insemination is a procedure where you will be given fertility medication, then when you ovulate, the washed sperm will be injected directly into the uterus. As simple as that. For me, it was not a painful experience. About 2 weeks after the IUI, my Miss P came (period). Huhu .. my IUI was unsuccessful.
After 2 1/2 years of TTC, i thought i would need a break for it. Furthermore, both of us were quite busy with our works, projects and  preparation to move into our new house.

July 2010 ~ we started to have a deep thought about this whole TTC thing. As year goes by, we are getting older. This year, both of us are 33. Pretty old eh.. The higher the number would means lower chances to get pregnant. "Should we go for another round of IUI or straight away do IVF?" This question kept playing in our mind each and every day. But somehow, after my sister-in-law just came back from Mekah for umrah (well she's also facing the same problem as we do and i asked her to also pray for both of us), it all became clear. We finally have the answer to that one question... Yesss.. we definitely  going for an IVF!!!
So, went to see Dr Hamid Arshat again to tell our decision. He then recommended me one of his friend which according to him is a very good specialist in IVF, which is Dr Prashant Nadkarni of the KLFertility Center. Dr Hamid Arshat then prepared a referral letter explaining the chronology of the treatment i've done and his nurse also set an appointment with Dr.Prashant.
So from that moment, we started another chapter in our life...IVF.

Luv ya... jams

  2. Hi fren,
It's a good info on the tubal ligation reversal.
I often heard about the tubal ligation but the reversal, actually this is the first time i heard about it. Not so sure whether this procedure is offered by hospital / clinics in Malaysia. If not, hopefully, hospital/clinics should offer this kinda of procedure in the future so that those women who wish to do the reversal able to do so ;).

  4. There are many doctors in United States but only few of them are qualified to perform tubal reversal surgery. If you want to conceive successfully after your tubal reversal surgery, then choose qualified doctors for your surgery.

  5. No doubt, IVF is a nice treatment, but it is very expensive than its alternatives like Tubal Reversal procedure. If you want an affordable solution than tubal reversal surgery is best option.
