End of July 2010 ~ Our preparation for IVF now started. We have to look for the vitamins or supplementary that was suggested by our doctor. Went to Guardian pharmacy to look for the vitamins. Luckily the pharmacy was having sale. So managed to get good price for the vitamins. In total we spent roughly RM500 for 3-months stock of these vitamins.
Here is the picture of the vitamins bought for my hubby. Noticed that Coenzyme Q10 is not in the picture because the empty bottle is already thrown away.
Out of these vitamins, Coenzyme Q10 is the most expensive one.. nearly RM100 for a month stock.
Bought myself the Blackmores - Pregnancy Formula.
It contains 400mcg of folic acid, DHA, irons and many other vitamins which is essential for women who is trying to conceive. I did asked my doctor whether i can take this vitamins during my IVF treatment. He said yes.. and it is indeed a very good vitamin ;)
Here is the ingredients of the Pregnancy Formula.
Truly me... jams
Hi Jams,
ReplyDeleteI'm TTC too (2 1/2 years already with 2 miscarriages) but now the all natural way first because recently we (husband and I) did a thorough checkup and doctor found out that we are both OK/normal. The doctor suggested for us to wait until next May to start any treatment if still necessary (hopefully not). So now I need to increase my chances by exercising and herbs/multi vitamin consumption. So I would like to know more about the vitamins listed above. What vitamins are those and what dosage did you take? Please advice.
For husband:
Kordel's vit E?
Blackmore's vit C?
Centrum A to Zinc?
Coenzyme Q10? What brand did you use and in what dosage?
Did the doctor mention about Selenium?
Yours,
Najwa
Salam Najwa..
ReplyDeleteGud luck for your TTC.. ;).. dont get urself stressed while TTC yer.. just enjoy the TTC ok.
Here is the vitamins we took before we start our ivf (recommended by Dr.Prashant, KLFertility):

1. Centrum Multivitamin - 1 tablet per day
(Brand Wyeth)
2. Vitamin C - 500mg per day (Any brand)
3. Vitamin E - 400iu per day (Any brand)
4. Coenzyme Q10 - 60mg twice per day (Any
brand)
b. For me:
1. Folic Acid - 400mcg or 0.4 mg per day
You can read the details in my previous posting http://myivfdiaries.blogspot.com/2010/10/my-ivf-second-appointment.html
Before we did iui, Dr.Hamid Arshat also suggested my hubby to take Speman (Himalaya brand). Can have a look at the website http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/products/speman.htm. This supplement is good too.
Anyway.. it's up to you which one to choose. You may ask your doctor for advise. For the vitamins like the centrum multivitamin.. it's also good for general health. My hubby hardly get any flu or fever ever since he took the supplement ;P
Najwa.. the Selenium is already included in the Centrum Multivitamin..
ReplyDeleteHi Jams, thanks for the info. Currently both of us just take Blackmores multi vitamin daily but it doesn't contain selenium and coenzyme Q10. Also the folic acid is only 200mcg. I think this combination is not enough, so I'll head to the pharmacy soon. Thanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteNajwa.
BTW, the Blackmore's pregnancy formula contains only 200mcg of folic acid. So did you take 2 tablets per day? If take 2 tablets like the coenzyme Q10, can we take 2 tablets at one time or one morning and the other night?
ReplyDeleteNajwa.
Najwa.. for the Blackmore's pregnancy formula, i take one tablet in the morning & one at night as per the instructions on the labeling. So.. that would be a total of 400mcg folic acid per day.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the coenzyme Q10, my husband just take one in the morning and one at night. Not sure whether there is any harm if you want to take 2 tablets at one time.
Last 2 weeks, there was this sale at Guardian @ Mid Valley. I bought the Blackmore's pregnancy formula for RM76.. pretty cheap eh.. ;P
You should begin preparing your body for IVF treatment as soon as you make the decision to go ahead with the procedure. There is much you can do to give yourself the best possible chance of success and the earlier you begin, the more impact the chances will have.
